April 2010

On the radar - April news from Learning Network NZ

FREE CHOCOLATE!

Now I've got your attention .... oh wait, we actually do have free chocolate - come and visit us in the holidays and join in our great Easter Egg Hunt around the centre.

We're also focusing on ways you can Relax, Refresh and Recharge, with lots of tips around the centre on how to make the most of your break and come out of it feeling tip top. I'll be Tweeting them too - see the next item for yet another reason to follow us on Twitter.

We're closed for the usual days around Easter (Good Friday, Easter Monday and Tuesday) but otherwise you'll find us here 8.30 - 5.00 Monday to Friday for all your resource needs.

Have a great Easter - from Sue and the LNNZ team.

PS Our centre is also closed on Monday 19 April for staff training but our website is open 24/7!

DON'T FORGET THE TEACHING AND LEARNING - AND WIN A FREE PLACE AT OUR NZCONNECTED CONFERENCE.
What with the focus on national standards, a short term 1 and a drive to search out the best Easter egg bargains, we think it's our duty to say, "Don't forget the teaching and learning!" - and we also know that your curriculum journey is ongoing and vital to your students' achievement.

Our fabulous NZConnectED Conference on 15 & 16 July is the must-go event of the year - we have a range of top-notch international and local presenters (including Julia Atkin, Tony Ryan, Murray Gadd and many more) covering themes connected with the NZC which will resonate with educators and leaders of all levels.

Workshop details are now on the website - and look out for the flier in you April 19 Education Gazette too. PHEW there's a lot to squeeze in! From just $450 pp for two jam-packed days.

And for those of you who aren't yet following us on Twitter, here's a great competition: all new followers in April go into the draw to win a FREE place at this conference! Click on the link and opt to follow us before 1st May for your chance. And yes, we'll put existing followers in the draw too because we love you.
HOT OFF THE PRESS
Well it’s hard to believe that the first term is over, which also signifies the end of daylight saving and a deserved break for teachers.

In your break remember to take time out to look out some of new titles on our website; there's a great new Douglas B Reeves book out: Transforming Professional Development in Student Results (pictured) - a user-friendly blueprint for how to ensure professional development improves student learning - only $42.

While you're on our website, check out our other exciting new titles.

We are also at the bottom of the barrel for Secondary Innovative Teachers' Companions (Primary sold out months ago) so we are selling the last few copies at just $25 (inc GST and delivery).

Remember the 'Three R’s” in the holidays means Revive, Refresh and Recharge – when term two starts it changes back to Reading, wRiting and aRithmetic! - so relax and enjoy your break. Dorne (Resource Manager)
