NEWSLETTER

February 2010

Your February newsletter from Learning Network NZ

It seems a bit late to be saying Happy New Year but I'll say it anyway as this is our first newsletter of 2010. We've hit the ground running - a great teacher only day last Monday with David Koutsoukis got the year off to a cracking start for 200 teachers.

There's plenty in our 2010 programme for everyone - get browsing now and read on for: leadership focus / resources news / competition on Twitter / Feb & March PD opportunities. Enjoy Term 1! Sue

TAKE ME TO YOUR LEADER
We all know that it takes so many people working together to make a school run well: students, teachers, support staff, leaders, RTLBs, teacher aides, the principal ...... All of these people are leaders in some way or another - and we have a special focus on building leadership in our early 2010 courses. There's something here for leaders of all types and levels.

Being an Effective Dean (22 Feb) and Being an Effective HoD (23 Feb) are practical workshops to help you meet the demands of these busy roles.

Outstanding educator and school principal Tom Hoerr (pictured) returns to NZ to share his vast knowledge and experience around successful leadership for the 21st century. Tom is speaking at two breakfasts (Central Auckland 22 Feb and West Auckland 23 Feb), as well as leading a full-day course Leadership for the 21st Century on 24 Feb. For principals and middle leaders of all levels.

Starting March 10 is our popular series Leading a Professional Learning Community; five afternoon sessions over the year for middle leaders of all levels which covers many aspects of the role from gathering data to making PD decisions.

World-leading educator Robin Fogarty returns in March for two courses. Her first, Coaching for Transfer, examines the role of the academic coach and gives practical strategies to use immediately.

Phew - what a selection! Click on the links for more information and online bookings.
REFRESH YOUR RESOURCES
How's your resource library looking? Or your personal bookshelf? Time to restock and update for the new year? Make sure you take advantage of our online resource room to browse and purchase our huge range of books.

So what's new? Primary Innovative Teachers' Companions are pretty much sold out so remember to order early next time! We still have a few Secondary ITCs but order now to avoid disappointment.

We have a focus on leadership in Feb - for great leadership resources click here . For principals we highly recommend The Art of School Leadership by Tom Hoerr who is visiting this month. Invaluable advice on running a school, based around the importance of relationships.

Drop me a line for any resource inquiries: Dorne.
