Presenter bio
Julie Mc Dougall, a seasoned and passionate educator with over 37 years of experience teaching students from year two to thirteen. Much of her teaching has been in the primary sector.
Previously, Julie has worked as a Resource Teacher of Literacy out West, taught in the central London area, been a SENCO and senior leader at a large intermediate school, held multiple curriculum responsibilities schoolwide and been an ESOL teacher and acting D.P for a short period of time. She has also worked in a Learning Support Centre at a Secondary School.
Julie has a wealth of knowledge, understanding and experience managing adolescent behaviour and learning, both on and off the Autistic Spectrum.
For the past 8 years Julie has worked for Kohia at the University of Auckland, facilitating ‘ESOL’ and ‘Managing Classroom Behaviour’ workshops, as well as mentoring, compiling and delivering courses for several groups of Provisionally Certificated Teachers. She has also been involved in working with the ‘International Teachers Programme’, run through the University of Auckland, presenting workshops for visiting, overseas teachers.
Julie strives to keep her courses relevant and visual with a strong emphasis on ‘Hands on Learning’ that can then be easily transferred to the classroom.
