Learning after Lockdown
What’s the point of inquiry learning? Is it to engage students more? Is it to have more fun? Is it to find out things that are useful to ourselves, our schools and our communities? Yes – all of these, but there is a deeper purpose: to help children develop the skills and attitudes that enable them to be resilient and resourceful learners in school and out, and for the rest of their lives.
We have seen in the COVID-19 crisis that some children already possess these qualities, and have flourished as learners at home. But others have not and have floundered. It’s not fair to leave this to chance. What can we do now, in our schools, to make sure that all our children are lockdown-learning-ready?
That’s where Inquiry Learning and the Learning Power Approach fit so well together. In this day of practical strategies and cutting-edge debate, Kath Murdoch and Guy Claxton will explore the future of learning.
