This session hosted by Diane Hobby from St Pauls Primary, Massey will explore practical ways to incorporate Tikanga and Te Reo Maori in the classroom. 

Sixth Session:
Aspects that may be covered include:

  • Treaty of Waitangi and the implications for teachers: what does it mean in practice?

  • Tikanga and Te Reo: activities and strategies for your class

  • Te Mana Korero: raising achievement for all students, particularly Maori

  • Ka Hikitia: to live as Maori

Linking learning to thinking and other areas of the curriculum As with all your sessions, there will be plenty of opportunities for sharing, questions and discussion with your peers and facilitators. registration process and also notes / handouts from your sessions. take a look ERO cites “regular opportunities to interact with other beginning teachers” as being one of the key factors identified by PCTs as helping their professional growth for effective teaching.
