Kate Brown
Kate Brown is an international educator and consultant passionate about transforming classrooms through teaching for understanding. Having taught across four countries and worked extensively with the International Baccalaureate, Kate has seen firsthand how concept-based learning empowers students to not just know about their world but understand it.
Since returning to New Zealand, Kate has inspired educators nationwide through her consultancy, EduKateNZ (www.edukatenz.com). She partners with schools to design rich, concept-based curricula that empower students to truly understand their world, not just learn the facts. Her approach is practical, purposeful, and proven. It supports teachers to plan with clarity, teach with confidence, and assess with insight. Kate’s workshops and coaching sessions show how concepts create connections across learning and how assessment becomes the bridge between teaching and understanding.
Kate’s bottom line is to support teachers to improve the curriculum in order to raise the motivation for students to engage with learning and lift their achievement levels.
Kate’s passion for students understanding their world is captured in her first book, Teaching for Understanding Through Concepts.
