Description

Trudy is recognised in New Zealand and Australia as a leader in Curriculum Integration, Higher-Order Thinking, the Key Competencies and Habits of Mind. She is in demand as a speaker and workshop facilitator and has presented at the International Habits of Mind Expo in Melbourne and Auckland.

In 2008 Trudy set up her own consulting business C21Learning. She is currently working in six Christchurch schools and two North Island schools on year-long projects structured to achieve the learning goals of the school. Current professional learning projects for Trudy include Literacy, Integration, Key Competencies and/or Habits of Mind, and Creating unique school-based curriculum.

Trudy has strengths in using teaching strategies which promote high levels of student responsibility and achievement. She does this by developing and sustaining communities of learners; using an integrated curriculum (which tends to emotionally hook students due to them being engaged in more authentic contexts); higher-order thinking skills and goal setting. The Habits of Mind which develop the Key Competencies are infused throughout her programs.
